Yosemite Winter Club
Monarch Digital can be there when you need us.
For their previous season, Yosemite Winter Club developed a Drupal web site to highlight their programs and sign up members for various winter memberships. With the new season quickly approaching, the club needed to again use the site, but they needed to have more extensive reports than last year. The club’s IT folks did not find any good way to get the membership reports they absolutely require.
When the club initially contacted Monarch Digital on a Sunday, we explored many options available to them:
- Upgrading to the latest version of Drupal (their CMS) and modules
- Exploring several built in Ubertcart (their shopping card) features and modules
- Redesigning the order process to provide the reports needed on the back end
- Developing a custom Drupal module to develop the needed functionality within Drupal
- Writing custom code to extract the required transaction information
With time of the essense, we mutually eliminated all but one option.
- Upgrading to the latest version of Drupal would be too time consuming and expensive.
- For Drupal 5, there was no built in functionality that met their needs.
- Redesigning the order process would be an inferior solution to simply upgrading to Drupal 6.
Writing custom code outside of the Drupal framework would require less time and money than building it into a Drupal module. Besides, no one besides their club would ever want this functionality.
The result. Monarch designed and developed the entire solution within 4 days. They could easily browse, search, and download all their specific transaction and membership history.
And then. Many companies and non-profits call upon Monarch Digital to help them through difficult web site problems. Some organizations use Monarch as a safety net, relying on us to get them through future difficult issues. Others contract with Monarch to regularly maintain and enhance their sites, freeing the organizations to do what they do best.
